Kuan Yin is the Mother of Compassion.
In her, all things are forgiven and healed.
Join Cat Matlock for a Meditation and Yoga Nidra practice designed to cultivate deep compassion for self and all. When we get stuck in unforgiveness, anger, and hurt, we cannot be in a true state of compassion for ourselves, let alone for others. Being stuck in victimhood depletes you, and keeps you actually in harm from past experiences. You keep reliving those stories, re-traumatizing yourself, and imprisoning your beautiful magic. Feeling sorry for yourself and having compassion for yourself are different things.
The first step to truly forgiving is to hold yourself in the light of compassion. “I know, honey, that was really hard. That hurt. It sucked. I’m so sorry that happened. I love you.” Whew.
The next step is to recognize that unforgiving actually keeps you bound to the past, only hurting you. To really forgive, it can be helpful to cut the energetic cords and ties to other, to the story, to release yourself from the burden of that connection. Once free, you can seal yourself off from that story, strengthen a boundary, and create safety around yourself.
Within that nest of safety, unable to be further harmed by that person or story, we cultivate compassion for them. We do this by recognizing that all beings have within them the Light of the Universe, the Goodness of All, the Divine Within. Gosh, that Divine Being sure suffers a lot in some folks! So we don’t make another’s actions OK, but we do recognize that the Divine is in all and it must really be hard for it to be stifled, clouded, and blocked inside those that cause harm to others. It is to this Divine One inside the other that we send our compassion.
Compassion for self. Cutting ties to those who have harmed us. Create a strong boundary. Forgiveness. Compassion to the Divine within those who have harmed us.
Let’s do this. 2023: Set Yourself Free.
Bring any items you wish to add to the communal altar that represent your free self, your empowered self, your loving truth.
This event includes a series of meditations, culminating in Yoga Nidra with Kuan Yin.
