Kim Drye (she/her) is the owner of West Asheville Yoga (WAY), a neighborhood studio founded in 2006 that has remained locally owned and deeply community-rooted. Kim began teaching at WAY in 2010 and stepped into ownership after COVID, carrying the studio forward through a time when many yoga spaces were closing their doors. Most recently, she has led the studio and its community through recovery after Helene, navigating disruption with resilience and reminding her community that yoga is as much about how we show up for one another as it is about the practice itself.
Known for her warm, thoughtful teaching style, Kim specializes in alignment-based classes, therapeutic healing, and restorative practices that invite students to slow down, tune in, and connect deeply with themselves. Since 2011, she has also offered classes, workshops, retreats, and trainings through her brand HereNowYoga, including beloved offerings like Yoga on the Mountain and Restorative Yoga with Hot Stones. She provides private therapeutic sessions tailored to seniors and those seeking adaptive practices to support nervous system regulation, anxiety, ADHD, and other neurodivergent needs.
In addition to her studio work, Kim is a co-founder and guide with Asheville Wellness Tours, where she leads yoga hikes, goat yoga, bachelorette and wedding yoga, and private vacation offerings. Her extensive training is rooted in the Iyengar tradition, and she has studied with beloved Asheville teachers Lillah Schwartz and Cindy Dollar, along with nationally recognized master teachers Matthew Sanford, Roger Cole, and Aadil Palkhivala.
Kim holds a 200-hour certification from Asheville Yoga Center (2008) and a 500-hour Yoga Therapy certification from Lighten Up Yoga with Lillah Schwartz (2009–2013). Through all of her work, she is most proud of creating spaces where practice, reflection, and community intersect—whether on the mat, on a mountaintop, or in a restorative pose. She believes in yoga as a practice of self-discovery, resilience, and joy, and she is honored to keep West Asheville Yoga a welcoming home for practice and connection.
