It relieves soreness and tension in your hardworking muscles and restores range of motion so you can run better the next time you hit the road.” -Rebecca Pacheco\, author of Do Your Om Thing: Bending Yoga Tradition to Fit Your Modern Life \n  \nWhat to expect \nThis series is divided into 2 mini-series: the first\, isolation exercises\, techniques for pain relief\, building strength & resilience; the second\, energetic intention and approach. \nWeek 1: Hamstrings & Quads              \nLower back pain? Knee pain? The posterior chain (muscles along the back of your body) is vital in all aspects of athletic performance. Tight hamstrings reduce the mobility of your pelvis\, which in turn increases strain and pressure on your lower back. Strong and flexible hamstrings can improve running efficiency\, agility\, and power.  \nWeek 2: Hip Flexors                                           \nTight hips can affect your range of motion\, which can impact everything from how deeply you can squat or lunge to the ease of your running stride. Tight hip flexors can also make it harder for your glutes to activate\, which can lead other muscles to compensate and take on more work than they can handle (like those in the low back)\, increasing your risk of injury. \nWeek 3: Side Body                                               \nMost of us live a good portion of our waking lives in the sagittal plane of movement\, which is flexion and extension. Sitting at a desk\, driving a car or a bike\, eating at tables\, running\, hiking\, rowing – all of these activities take place in flexion (forward bending out of a neutral standing position). This practice is designed to lengthen\, strengthen\, lift\, and stretch the sides of your body to give you relief and prevention from back pain. \nWeek 4: Brahmana Activate & Invigorate                                      \na sequence for morning\, pre-work\, or pre-run. \n  \nWeek 5: Langhana Subdue\, Relax\, Ease.  Running can be very activating… learn how to subdue body & mind on rest days. \nWeek 6: Samana Balance\, Assimilate\, & Digest How do we digest our experiences\, assimilate into modern life? In this last class\, I offer a balanced practice to encourage and support you to take all that we’ve practiced the past 5 weeks together\, and all that you practice off the mat\, to assimilate and cultivate an ongoing practice to support your running\, your body\, your life.

DESCRIPTION:Knee pain got you worried?  Does it hurt when you go down the stairs?  Does it hurt when you go up hills?  Is your knee swelling?\nThe mistake lots of folks make with knee pain is that they assume one of the following: \n\nI’m getting old and it’s normal for knees to start to hurt.  \nMy cartilage must be gone.\nI probably need a knee replacement.  I don’t want to do that so I’m just going to stop running (or doing yoga\, or… insert other physical activity that you love) so I can avoid that surgery.\n\nDon’t make those mistakes! \nI know knee pain can be scary because if your knees don’t work well\, it affects every single aspect of your life. \nWhat I’ve Learned:\nWhat I’ve learned over the last nearly 30 years working with people in their bodies is that we tend to blame the joint and often miss the muscular and soft tissue causes of pain.  I’ve also learned is that pain in a joint is more often than not caused by imbalanced pull on the joint caused by muscle tension.  I witness every week in my work is people getting themselves out of pain in their joints by releasing the muscle tension and restoring balance to the system.  I’ve seen people completely avoid surgery thousands of times.  Literally.  Not everyone does\, sometimes surgery is necessary.  Yet\, why not see if you’re one of those that doesn’t need it? \nIn this Workshop:\nIn this workshop you will learn the 4 main muscle groups which lead to knee pain.  You will gain skill in finding tension in those groups and releasing it.  You will leave with significantly less pain and swelling in your knee.  Some will finish this workshop with no pain at all! \nYou’re going to need just a couple of simple tools for this work: a foam roller and a tennis ball or ball the size of a tennis ball.  That’s it! \nThere are simple steps you can take to address knee pain.  Why not see if these simple steps are all you need to have Nimble Knees? \nAll registrants will have access to this workshop for 72 hours! \nJoin us and find out.
