SUMMARY:Myths & Mahavidyas: Exploring Tantra through the Lens of The Goddess
DESCRIPTION:Myths & Mahavidyas: \nExploring Tantra through the Lens of the Goddess \nDates: October 6th- Nov 3rd. (4 week series) Please note that we will skip Sunday\, Oct 27th! \nSundays 5:30-7pm \n“Archetype is an enormous force that we are susceptible to feeling\, seeing\, sensing\, hearing; but it’s representable as itself because it’s beyond our ability to capture the universe\, horizon-to-horizon. Representations are what we can understand.” \n-Clarissa Pinkola Estés\, Jungian analyst \nJoin us as we explore the power of Tantra through myth\, guided yoga\, meditation & contemplative practices designed to unveil each aspect of the goddess within ourselves. \n‌ \nThe Mahavidya (Sanskrit: Mahā: great\, vidyā: wisdom) are a group of ten Tantric goddesses. Often under a variety of names\, this group spans divergent religious traditions including Saivism\, Vaishnavism\, and Vajrayana Buddhism. Each goddess is distinct in her own characteristics and stories\, as such\, each represents a unique aspect of creation. They are in this sense also to be regarded as Vidyas: different approaches to knowledge. \n‌ \nStorytelling is a tool for integration of our lived experience. Stories touch something deep within us and allow us to pull back the layers of our own experience\, to better understand ourselves and our own lives. In sharing & reflection\, speaking our story can often connect us with a new perspective of ourselves. Putting words to the immensity of experience helps to contextualize\, process\, and move forward. Our stories\, our connections are powerful. \n‌ \nOn the one hand\, each Goddess is a personification\, with real stories connected to her essence\, teaching lessons that are relatable through the human experience. On the other hand\, she is direct experience. She is felt energy\, a part of the vast web of experience of which we are intricately & intimately part. The stories are archetypes. Each character in each story is part of us. \n‌ \nEach session will last 2 hours\, and will include an introduction to each deity\, followed by a complete practice including asana\, mantras/invocation\, pranayama and/or meditation. We’ll close the session in a collaborative group study\, discussing the meaning behind the myths\, traits of the goddess\, and possible mode of application in daily life. \nPricing: $108 for folks who sign up for all 4 and $33 for individual session drop ins

SUMMARY:108 Sun Salutations Ritual for the Autumn Equinox:  Fundraiser Class
DESCRIPTION:108 Sun Salutations Ritual for the Autumn Equinox:\nFundraiser Class for Asheville Poverty Initiative (12 Baskets Cafe)\nJoin us on September 21st\, 2024\, from 12-2 pm for a special fundraiser event in support of the Asheville Poverty Initiative (12 Baskets Cafe): a yoga class featuring the traditional practice of 108 Sun Salutations. This session will take place on the autumn equinox\, a time of balance and reflection\, and will be offered both in person and virtually. \nIn yoga philosophy\, the number 108 holds deep significance. It is considered a sacred number representing the universe’s wholeness\, with 108 being the number of sacred sites in India\, the number of Upanishads\, and the number of beads on a mala\, among many other associations. Practicing 108 Sun Salutations is a powerful way to connect with this sense of completeness and unity. \nDuring this two-hour session\, we will move through 108 Sun Salutations\, a sequence designed to honor the cycles of nature\, foster physical and mental endurance\, and create a profound sense of connection and purpose. Whether you join us in person or virtually\, this practice will provide an opportunity to come together as a community\, support a vital cause\, and embrace the equinox’s energy of renewal and balance.  WAY teachers will rotate as guides in the salutations. \nAll proceeds from this event will go directly to the Asheville Poverty Initiative (12 Baskets Cafe)\, helping to support their mission of addressing and alleviating poverty in our community. Come prepared to flow\, sweat\, and make a meaningful impact. Let’s unite in movement and intention to create positive change! For more information on 12 Baskets Cafe (Asheville Poverty Initiative) please visit12 Baskets Cafe — Asheville Poverty Initiative

SUMMARY:Yoga to Live Music with Tara Eschenroeder + Hope Griffin
DESCRIPTION:Yoga & Live Music with Tara Eschenroeder & Hope Griffin \nAugust 18\,2024 \n6:30-8:00pm \nHolding Space for the Pause \nCome on a journey of the senses\, moving alongside the living breath of music\n\nAllow yourself to reconnect to that sacred animal within\, ultimately reminding us how to simply BE – both on and off the yoga mat. \n\nJoin Hope and Tara as they come together once again\, and take you on a journey of the senses. While drinking in the sacred sounds of the music\, we take the ability to listen and to feel even deeper within. We tap into that intuitive sense of knowing; how and when to move and when to be still. \n\n\nInfused with poetry from her self-published collections  entitled Collecting Feathers\, Landing hOMe\, and Sacred Details\,  accompanied with WNC award winning musician\, Hope Griffin\, Tara will invite us to unapologetically pause on purpose and hold space for the sweetness that lies within the grace note.  It is in these moments of pause that we are able to put down the shaken up snow globe of life… visions that have become clouded are able to once again present themselves. It is in these moments of pause that we are able to put down what’s heavy and remember that we are held by the soil which we tread upon. Put it down dear one. You have permission to pause.\n\n\n\n  \nSliding Scale $30-$40 \n\n  \n**This is a special event\, not included with studio memberships**
